Groundbreaking Ceremony - Our Lady of Guadalupe
On August 8, 2009, the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Monte, California was honored to welcome Bishop Gabino Zavala of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for the groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new parish center. Over 750 parishioners gather to celebrate the blessing of the first stone of Nueva Rectory of Iglesias of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Fr. Francisco Vitela presided over the ceremony with a prayer and blessing. Guest speakers included Mayor of El Monte, Ernest G. Gutierrez, and President of the City Council, Juventino Gomez. Next, Bishop Gabino Zavala gave a blessing on the grounds where construction will commence.
Fr. Francisco Vitela, Bishop Gabino Zavala, and Mayor Ernest G. Gutierrez helped bury a time capsule that included copy of the day’s edition of Los Angeles Times, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish newsletter, and a rosary. Primus Building Solutions provided Development Management services during pre-construction phases and is currently conducting the Construction Management services.
