The Village at Beechwood is a 100-unit multifamily property in Lancaster that was built in 1971. The property includes 28 residential buildings with a variety of unit types and sizes. The Village at Beechwood was chosen as the subject of a Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) project funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The PIER/HUD program will develop retrofit packages for individual units that are scalable and replicable and that will help bring energy consumption to as near-zero net energy (ZNE) as possible for the multifamily market. Primus coordinated and managed the construction of energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy including: Solar domestic hot water system, Solar photovoltaic system, Boiler replacements, ENERGY STAR-rated kitchen appliances, New wall and attic insulation, Interior and exterior lighting retrofits, Low-flow water fixtures, Smart irrigation controllers and new sprinkler heads.
